Bio

Ian Cheibub (b.1999) is a visual artist based in Rio de Janeiro.
His work is deeply rooted in the cracks of post-colonialism, investigating the intersections between the magical and the real that are expressed in popular culture and in the small gestures of everyday life.
Through photography, video, music and installations, Ian seeks to understand how the concept and materialities surrounding "magic" become an instrument of reappropriation and subversion of narratives in the Global South.
